It used to be that precast elements for concrete safety barriers were used wherever an increased safety potential was required. However, meanwhile they have become an indispensible part of the passive safety equipment on our roads and motorways. It has been clearly proven that, in addition to the safety-related advantages, the economic aspects (service life, maintenance, servicing) speak for the precast elements for concrete safety barriers. From the positive experience gained, as well as in view of empty public coffers, precast elements for concrete safety barriers are being used increasingly frequently as the most economical solution in many standard situations.
At the latest with the introduction of RPS 2003 and the related increase in the safety requirements, passive safety equipment made from precast elements for concrete safety barriers frequently already represent the most economical alternative even before considering the long-term costs.
